Colour your diet - Blue/Purple for longetivity

 Blue/Purple colour for longetivity

What they contain
High levels of health-boosting phytochemicals known as anthocyanins and resveratrol.

Why you should eat more:
Purple foods contain the most antioxidants of all the colors and therefore contribute to overall health, disease prevention, and longevity. They also raise HDL (the “good”) cholesterol, and help maintain a healthy brain.Anthocyanins can protect against liver disease, reduce blood pressure and fight ageing, while resveratrol may reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer and improve memory.

Examples of purple/blue foods include blueberries, blackberries, eggplant, figs, plums, raisins and purple cabbage.

Try: Enjoying a small glass of red wine or adding berries to smoothies and your breakfast cereal. Add grapes in your cornflakes or eggplant in your salads to let this colour work its magic.
